Hey Friends! Here we are nearing the end of the calendar year. And you’ll notice that I’ve taken a small break here to enjoy Christmas and winter break with family. Yesterday we took an amazing walk in the woods on our little piece of property here in the Finger Lakes of New York. It was so cold and so snowy and just beautiful.
We’ve been playing with our new Christmas presents: lots of Lego Friends, many Nerf gun wars and finishing up panel two of The Mystery of the Salem Quilt Guild and deciding between starting The Candy Cane Tree Lot or designing a quick pattern of my own. And so I decided I would do a quick post on the Best of 2017 on The Semiconservative Granola Girl with my five most popular posts.
Best of 2017
I’ve been at this little blogging thing since April. So, that is not an insignificant amount of time, but on the other hand, it is not even close to the people who have been at it for years. My focus here on the Semiconservative Granola Girl Blog continues to be for working moms who also want “Close to Home Living.” So that means that in 2018, I will continue to write posts about home cooked meals, kids, meal planning and sewing. But for now here are my top five posts of 2017.
Number Five: Ten Foods to Smoke in Your Electric Smoker
We purchased our Masterbuilt Electric Smoker in August and we’ve been loving it ever since. Even in the cold, we are playing with it this week, so you can expect so posts about rubs and smoking different foods. We have been playing with smoking potatoes and venison, and later today, we’re going to give cheese a try. Ten Foods to Smoke is Your Electric Smoker is about our first endeavors at smoking food.
Number Four: Rhubarb Peach Jam
It’s funny, because when I started the Semiconservative Granola Girl, I thought there would be more posts about preserving the harvest. And that just didn’t happen much this year. I did play around with two new jam recipes and apparently, one, Rhubarb Peach Jam caught the attention of my readers. Blackberry Lemon Jam is not far behind. You could also check out my post on 7 Things to Preserve This Weekend.
Number Three: Thanksgiving Mimosas
Mimosas are hot. And, Thanksgiving Mimosas brought lots of traffic to my blog in the days before Thanksgiving. These mimosas are a beautiful combination of cranberry juice and apple cider and really aren’t just for Thanksgiving, so make a up a batch for New Year’s morning!
Number Two: French Knot Hack
As I described in my post, French Knots are my nemesis. So I came up with a hack. French Knots must also trouble other people because lots of people have come over to the the Semiconservative Granola Girl to check it out.
Number One: Crockpot Dill Pickle Chicken
This post is by far the most popular post/recipe on my site. It has earned three times the traffic of the French Knot Hack, so save your dill pickle juice and make an batch today of Crockpot Dill Pickle Chicken. It’s a meal the whole family will enjoy. And for something a little different, try Lemon Artichoke Crockpot Chicken.
Looking forward
