Cherry Almond Apple Crisp

This baked dessert is sweet apples with tart cherries and a crunchy almond and oat toppping.

Ingredients
  

Filling
  • 6 medium apples peeled and sliced
  • ½ cup dried cherries
Topping
  • ½ cup butter at room temperature
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup flour
  • ½ cup old fashioned oats
  • ¼ cup sliced almonds

Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • pastry cutter or a fork and a butter knife
  • measuring cups
  • sharp knife
  • 2 quart baking dish

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Filling
  1. Peel and slice apples. Toss with cherries and add to your baking dish.
Topping
  1. In a large mixing bowl, cut the butter, flour and sugar together using a pastry cutter (or with a fork and butter knife or two butter knives) until the butter is pea sized.
  2. Add the oats and almonds and mix well.
  3. Pour the topping mixture evenly over the apples and cherries.
  4. Bake for 30-40 minutes until the top is golden and the apples are bubbling.
