Cherry Almond Apple Crisp

This baked dessert is sweet apples with tart cherries and a crunchy almond and oat toppping.

Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • pastry cutter or a fork and a butter knife

  • 2 quart baking dish

Ingredients
  

Filling

  • 6 medium apples peeled and sliced
  • ½ cup dried cherries

Topping

  • ½ cup butter at room temperature
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup flour
  • ½ cup old fashioned oats
  • ¼ cup sliced almonds

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.

Filling

  • Peel and slice apples. Toss with cherries and add to your baking dish.

Topping

  • In a large mixing bowl, cut the butter, flour and sugar together using a pastry cutter (or with a fork and butter knife or two butter knives) until the butter is pea sized.
  • Add the oats and almonds and mix well.
  • Pour the topping mixture evenly over the apples and cherries.
  • Bake for 30-40 minutes until the top is golden and the apples are bubbling.
