Today is day 16 of the 25 Days of Christmas Activities to Do with Your Family. And, around here it’s been snowing. “Play in the Snow’ is not really a Christmas activity, per say. However, playing in the snow sure helps to get everyone in the Christmas spirit.
Christmas Fun: Play in the Snow
Often in the deep winter, we have lots of snow, and it’s either too cold to play outside or it’s just not the right kind of snow. But those early December snows sometimes are the right kind of snow. So, let the snowman making begin.
For those of you out there who are unfamiliar with snow, what you need to know is there’s wet snow and there’s dry snow. Yes, believe it or not, there is dry snow. Dry snow comes when the temperature gets below 31°. And that’s just the wrong kind of snow.
To make a snowman, you need wet snow, snow that will pack. And that, is the snow we get in December, but only in early December (and late February or March).
Our snowman kit came from L.L. Bean (<–Not an affiliate), but there are a couple great offerings from Amazon, too (<–affiliate).
And, if it’s not the “right” kind of snow, you can always catch snowflakes on your tongue.
25 Days of Christmas Activities
So, if you get good early wet snow in December, go out and build a snowman with your kids to put you in just the right Christmas mood. Because it is always good to play in the snow and it’s a great Christmas tradition, too.
Be sure to stop back tomorrow and for the next nine days to find other great traditions to share with your family during the 25 Days of Christmas Activities. And don’t forget to check out the first 15 days too.
