There is just something about a snack mix like Chex mix that just makes you want to pour handful after handful into your mouth. Am I right? Of course, the regular stuff is great, but I recently noticed that we are using Everything Bagel Dry Rub on just about everything: meat, vegetables, potatoes. So why no make a everything bagel snack mix that brings those flavors together.

About Snack Mix
I don’t know if you have ever made a Chex Mix before, but they are super easy: melt some butter, add some spices, toss them into a compilation of cereal and other bite sized snack foods. Bake, stir, bake and stir. That’s it.
In this version of Everything Bagel Snack Mix, we are not just melting butter and adding Everything Bagel Dry Rub, instead, we are using a combination of granulated (or powdered) garlic and onion along with sesame seeds and poppy seeds to get the best flavor.
We chose to use a combination of rice and corn cereal. To that we have added cheese snack crackers (like Goldfish), little pretzels (like Goldfish Pretzels or Snyders Itty Bitty Minis) and, of course, everything bagels chips. I broke the bagel chips one at a time to make them more bite sized. When I tried to break them all at once they ended up getting kind of crushed.
How to Make It
Preheat the over to 250ºF and prepare a baking sheet with a piece of parchment paper. Mix all of the dry ingredients in a large bowl.
In a glass measuring cup (for easy pouring) or a small bowl, melt butter. Add worcestershire sauce, granulated garlic, granulated onion, and the seeds.
Pour about half of the butter mixture over the cereal mix. Gently stir to coat. Be sure to carefully pull from the bottom. I like to use a big rubber scrapper for this. Add the rest of the butter mixture and continue to to gently stir to coat.
Spread the mix onto the prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle the mix with the Kosher salt. Toss a little more, if desire. Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Cool and enjoy.
A note about when to add the seeds. I tried adding the seeds directly to the butter (as described here) and adding them after the mix was already on the baking sheet. In the end, the sesame seeds seem to fall off no matter what you do, although they do seem to stick a little better and longer if you add them to the butter.
Everything Bagel Snack Mix for the Win
I made this for several trips to the cabin this summer when we would have company and with each group it was a hit. My father-in-law even told me that he doesn’t like Chex Mix, but that he like this one. He could have just been being nice, but…..So we hope you enjoy.
